Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024Stevie Wonder, who had quit MoTown in the year 1970 to record two independent albums for himself, was shocked to learn this. Berry Gordy was shocked to discover this. Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's request of more independence and full creative control and the right to all his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a contract that was worth 13 million dollars with MoTown Records in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher rate of royalty and had full creative control. Also, he had the right to compose his own songs , something that very few artists could get in the era of. The agreement permitted Wonder's songs and videos to discuss controversial subjects such as drugs, war, poverty and even politics. The album he released in 1972, Music Of My Mind was the first to be released under his brand new MoTown agreement. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album released in the latter part of 1972. It's still a major piece of music. The album included Superstition the most popular smash hit track.
