Becki Newton
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton grew up in Guilford, Connecticut. She's English as well as Czech heritage and first began to perform musicals and plays at local theaters. She later went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with an B.A. European History. At Penn, Newton was a participant in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, Newton then moved to New York City and landed many roles in television commercials with companies such as The Olive Garden. Newton performed the role of Amanda Tanen from 2006-2010 in the comedy drama series Ugly Betty. Newton was host of the official Ugly Betty Podcast together with the co-star Michael Urie. In addition, she was a part of ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode The Series. Ugly Betty, which had 4 seasons of success by the time it ended but was canceled in 2010. It was able to have a final season. Newton was the first to make the New York City Center encores debut in 2009. Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. Newton played Molly Gray and performed opposite the real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton was also a part of Love Bites, a television show. Cindy Chupack was the executive producer for the romance comedy. Cindy Chupack worked with Sex and the City. NBC has announced the return of the series in May 2010.However, with Newton announcing her pregnancy, co-star Jordana Spiro was legally bound to remain on her previous series My Boys (which ended up being eventually cancelled) as well as Chupack's wish to quit the show Love Bites was pushed back to mid-season.
