Maureen Denise McCormick was born on the 5th of August 1956, at Woodland Hills, California, the only child of Richard and Irene McCormick. She was raised by a mother who was a domestic worker as well as a father who taught. Michael, Dennis and Kevin are her oldest brothers. McCormick began singing and dancing from a young age, and frequently performed shows with puppets in front of the children from her neighborhood. The fairytale tale of her rise to fame began when she won in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6, which led to a call from talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency in which she was wanted to know if she was interested in to work in showbusiness. McCormick was offered her first role as a major actor in a television commercial featuring Mattel's newest toy, Baby Pattaburp. Her next major job was a television commercial to promote"Chatty," the "Chatty" doll made by the Mattel company.
